a tutorial on how to change fork springs.

right, heres what you do,

you unbolt the 4 bolts holding bars on, they are probably 8mm ones. so get what socket, spanner etc you need.

then continue to unscrew/unbolt the clamp bolts and also remove the headstock bolt.

once thats done, you will see ontop of the forks there is a funny disc on top, with two flat edges running parrallel to each other. Clamp your molegrips onto this disc as this is actually a bolt. (ableit a very well hidden one Wink ) JUST MAKE SURE TO HAVE YOUR BIKE JACKED UP BY NOW. ON A BOX/STAND ETC.

once off you will have full access to the springs. Be careful to have your bike jacked up as stated above, or your springs will push out and oil go spurting over you Laughing

well done now you change change springs/oil etc.

now there is two ways of getting the old oil out either, A. remove front wheel and axel, and undo the nuts underneath each leg and oil will drain out,
or B. just tip the bike on its side , which is the option i have chosen Laughing

make sure forks havent been compressed (if you tipped it sideways)
fill your forks back up with oil, mine takes 100ml each fork. mine are the smaller than normal chink ones though. which are sometimes 140ml or something. just measure what comes out. oh and the oil is 10w-40w motor oil, no point using the fork oil as this stuff is in my shock and its amazing.

right, i was going to change my springs. but my new ones wouldnt fit. so instead, ive put some spacers in (one spacer and two nuts), to make them stiffer untill i get ones that fit.

then bolt back up, being careful if you added spacers, you will need to put a bit more pressure on.

bolt the headstock bolt back on, and the clamp holder bolts.

then the bar bolts and thats it. all done Smile

after this my suspension is plush as, well happy with it. the extra thick oil really compliments the spacers.

Wink
